You could do what my sister and I did when we were little, play "our parents sent us away to boarding school but it's the olden days so all we have are typewriters and feather pens." We typically jumbled time periods when we played that game. The common theme was that we were always "roughing it." More often than not we wore long skirts to get into our roles.
