Remember when I lived in Milwaukee, where everyone was void of a personality and I stuck out like a sore thumb because I didn't have a baby, a dog or a passion for the Brewers? Well, today I finally discovered the anti-Milwaukee: The Print Club.
The Print Club is like a gym for artsy folk--you pay £90/month for a membership to use their facilities.
I took their beginner's screen-printing workshop where we learned how to format an image in Photoshop, transfer the image to a screen, then print the image onto paper. Members were working on their own personal projects while the workshop was going on and the stuff they were making was pretty amazing. This was one of my favorites, which was made by a member:
I'm not a huge fan of the prints that I made (which is sushi that I groggily drew while eating breakfast, if you can't tell), but I'm excited to start thinking about other things that I can make in the next few weeks.
I think I want to make cute stationary or Christmas cards and a series of posters (maybe with some Andy Warhol quotes from Popism?) Ideas, anyone?
Oh ma gash. I so love this. I've wanted to buy Popism for TWO whole years and I don't know why I haven't. You have no idea how obsessed I used to be with the whole Andy Warhol scene (still obsessed, but less) I know every single Factory member by heart, his paintings.... everything. I love it!
