No body shots in the retirement community

This year I decided to forgo the annual college student's pilgrimage to the Spring Break mecca of Panama City Beach in favor of checking out the early-bird specials in Punta Gorda with my grandparents.

One night we went to dinner at 4:30, naturally, as to beat the crowds. When we got to the restaurant, we saw a sea of white-haired diners and were quickly informed that it was going to be at least a 45 minute wait before we were seated. Not even 2 for 1 beers and a free slice of cheesecake for dessert could keep Grandpa Fred waiting that long. Only in Punta Gorda.

I woke up every morning to coffee and freshly-baked cinnnamon rolls, made a key lime pie with fruit from the local produce stand, and played a bit of golf. I avoided witnessing any wet t-shirt contests or frat bros doing body shots and can definitely call the week a success!

  1. People often spend their lives in the workforce dreaming about the day they get to finally retire.
The trouble is that many people find it difficult adjusting to the pace of life after a career.
These innovative retirement communities seek to fill a niche and bring like-minded seniors together to enjoy life's golden years.
