backwards and sideways

On Saturday night I was Matt's date for a formal, so I thought I'd continue with this week's theme of wearing see-through clothing, but this time intentionally.

The top is actually a vest that I'm wearing backwards (it came with some Size 0 lace bell-bottoms which were AWESOME, but more than a few sizes to small). The slit on the skirt is supposed to be worn in the front, but I think it's more flattering worn sideways.

Vintage top, H&M skirt, Kate Spade flats

I'm imagining some kooky woman in 1972 wearing this vest with the lace pants and some wooden-sole platforms to go sit on a mustard-colored couch and smoke weed. You don't get that kind of personality off the rack at Express!

  4. Once again, you've made outfit magic that I'd steal off your rack in a minute. Speaking of Express - I'm extremely ashamed to say that was my favorite store in high school. I guess you could say I went through an extended Euro-trash phase, complete with underage club outings, heaps of RedBull, and exposed midriffs. I'm just glad you didn't know me back then.

  5. WOW now I am all for this turning around, inside out, upside down idea. I have sewed and shortened and all kinds of crazy stuff but this is new. love it.

  6. Wow, I just thought this was a regular shirt and skirt or just a dress. I would not have thought it was a vest worn backwards or the skirt was meant to be worn a different way. This is by far one of my favorite outfits! You look fantastic! =)

  7. You are so adorable and I love this outfit - particularly the vest. I can definitely see that weed-smoking, wooden platform wearing woman in your vest (and matching bell bottoms). :P
