1. I packed my stuff up to come home for spring break and remembered to bring tons of boots, skirts, belts, etc., but forgot to throw in any underwear or pajamas. Looks like I'll be sleeping in my hot pink sweater and flapper skirt.
2. Since I stepped in the door on Thursday I haven't consumed much outside the arena of coffee, tea, croissants and cinnamon buns. My hands were shaking due to the absurd amount of sugar and caffeine pumping through my veins which resulted in lots of blurry iPhone pics. Now I have to decide between good iPhone pics or a caffeine buzz. Great.
3. Sunday brunch = my favorite part of the week
4. I found pony-hair leopard flats at the Kate Spade outlet store for $50. I must've been accumulating some karma points this month. Score.
5. I love the High/Low feature in Style at Home magazine. They decorate two rooms (nearly) identically, but one has an enormous budget and the other is done on the cheap. The fam turned guessing which is which into a competition and, not to brag or anything, but I'm pretty damn good at it.
Cute pics! Love your phone cover...wishing I had an iPhone instead of a Droid so I could get myself a cute Kate Spade cover! Also great score on the shoes; gotta love the outlets!

ReplyDelete1. I know the Art Institute may seem slightly touristy, but if the weather isn't wonderful, it's a great place to spend some time. From there, you'll pass the Bean and can see Grant Park, home of Lollapalooza. Head down Michigan to Oak, and on Oak is Kate Spade, Hermes, and Barneys - fabulous window shopping.
2. Get yourself the greatest cup of hot chocolate you'll ever have at Hot Chocolate (1747 N. Damen Avenue). Right around the corner is the Marc Jacobs accessory store, Reckless Records (a really great record store), and the Pitchfork headquarters (fun facts, you know). This is all right off the Blue Line Damen stop.
3. More delicious food options: Molly's Cupcakes, Alliance Bakery, or Bittersweet Bakery for sweets. Kuma's Corner has a metal vibe, but the best burgers known to mankind.
4. Lincoln Park, especially around the Brown Line Armitage stop has some unique stores, great designer consignment places, etc.

Lyndsey - The Art Institute is definitely on my itinerary, and since I always go to the Marc Jacobs store to buy the cheap stuff like compacts and keychains, I'll have to grab a hot chocolate! I've never really explored Lincoln Park, but "designer consignment" is all I need to hear to go running.

-lincoln park in general. especially "old town". lots of cute bakeries and it's beautiful to walk around. second city theatre is there as well, lots of amazing improv/comedy sets nearly every night.
-in lincoln park there is an amaaaaazing brunch place called "orange with a peel". they have the most amazing brunch and they plate it so cutely. and it's pretty darn cheap. triple win.
-it's touristy but lovely. go to sears (now willis) tower, but at night. so so fantastic! and less crowded during the evening.
-and like someone said before, definitely go to the art institute! it's free on thursdays, usually. and definitely get there early. that thang is gigantic. i went there on two separate thursdays and didn't even get through half. place is epic.
-also, wicker park has an amazing set of bookstores, if you're a book-nerd like i am. it's pretty hipstery, but still has a lot of redeeming qualities. i'd say if you go anywhere, getting lost in lincoln park and wicker park are your best bets for fun, non-touristy things to do :)
